Mircea I. Bertea is the head of the department of Romanian Language and Literature at the National Pedagogical College, "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj, Romania. He is also a professor specializing in transdisciplinary courses in the Faculty of Psychology and Sciences of Education at the University and a European Union expert in education. From 1994-1998 he served as the chief inspector for the County School Inspectorate of Cluj Department in Transylvania. He was an inspector for mother language in the same county inspectorate from 1990 to 1993. Bertea has been published at or participated in more than 50 national and international seminars and congresses. In both Romania and abroad, he has published 15 books in: languages, literature, and education (new didactics and transdisciplinarity). He is also an active member of the National Council for Educational Reform and the International Center for Transdisciplinary Research (CIRET), Paris.
