International Conference on String Theory

Date:
Monday, July 23, 2012 (All day) to Saturday, July 28, 2012 (All day)

Organized by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), Max-Planck-Institut für Physik (MPP) and Arnold Sommerfeld Center for Theoretical Physics (ASC), the Strings conference is an annual event hosting hundreds of researchers in string theory from all around the world. Since the 1980s, it has grown to be the largest and most important conference in this field. International experts are invited to review the most recent achievements in string theory and discussions between the participants lead to new developments and insights. Following the tradition of Strings conferences, the scientific program will be followed by a full day of public lectures presenting aspects of string theory to a general audience. These lectures are targeted to the general public and represent a great opportunity to participate at one of the most intriguing adventures of nature. This year's public lectures will feature Rolf-Dieter Heuer, Director General of CERN, Genève, Switzerland and Edward Witten, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, USA:
